Couture fashion week.

On the Couture Fashion Week website they mention that it ‘also includes exhibits of fine art, luxury products and service’. There were some useful links to the fine artist that were showed there.
Here are some of the ones I found most interesting and related to my theme:

  •  Lorene Ireland = combines art and sculptural fashion to make stand-alone pieces or some that can even be warn. Interesting concept for display, maybe people can wear the works in my exhibition?
  •       Igor Zaytsev = relates to my thoughts on the combination of realistic and abstract art. However not a direct relation to fashion. Is this a problem? Or could it still work alongside other literal pieces?
    ·         Franco Cocastelluccio = using clay make sculptures that reflect movement and literally translates literature on Greek and Roman mythology. Could compliment the movement of fluid fabric.
    ·         Susan Freda = like Lorene Ireland, combines her fine art skills with fashion to create interesting sculptures.
    ·         Anita Lewis = has a ‘simplistic abstract modern style’. Her paintings of dancers are created with the intention to compliment the modern architecture surrounding so that in turn the surroundings will compliment her work.  Something to consider if curating her work, perhaps display outside?
    ·         Monica Agudelo = ‘At Couture Fashion Week, Ms. Agudelo  showcased a selection of colorful pop art inspired by the excess of media consumption of which fashion is a part.’ Interesting concept behind the work and links nicely with the theme.

·
Along with these artist there is also a page filled with different fashion designers that appeared at the show. Might be an idea to display some of the items alongside the work as they would have been at the show.
