New Project. First Blog. Let's START!

So I’ve got a new project. I have to become a curator and create my dream exhibition using a virtual model. This can include artists from any time period, whether dead or alive and I can present the work any way I want as long as I keep the scale the same. Should be very interesting!
I’ll have to chose a theme for my exhibition, then a suitable location to reflect that them and then the works that I want to include, not necessarily in that order. Once I’ve chosen who and what I want to include I’ll have to make a maquette, I haven’t decided if I want this to be on the computer or as a physical 3D model yet, but I think either could be fun to make J
Sources I have been recommended are the following;
The website: http://www.axisweb.org/ this is a resource of artists and curators, which will help to look at for inspiration in my own work. It also includes an exhibition curated by one of my tutors, Mona Casey http://www.axisweb.org/atselection.aspx?AID=2359

Some good books I’ve been recommended for ideas are the ‘Cream’ series (Fresh Cream, Ice Cream and Cream 3) which are a series of books that contain lots of virtual exhibitions that couldn’t exist in real life.

The aims of the project are:
-          Be as inventive as possible (could mix practices/ medias/modern & minimalism etc)
-          Justify choices
-          Can have some relationship to my own practice (might be good to inspire my own practice and help with research, as well as giving me ideas on how to present my own work)
-          Can either design my own gallery space or use an existing one
-          Consider choice of work and the scale of the pieces
-          Create a press release for the exhibition with a title
-          Include names of artists that are being shown and titles of work

All of this has to be in by the 5th of May so I guess I better get researching and thinking of a theme to work on!

Time to get started...
